Name of the Program

 

Composite School Grant:

School grants are released annually to all government schools in the state on the basis of enrollment. The sanctioned school grant based on the number of students is to be utilized for the following purposes in accordance with the rules.

1) Office records (registration book, sheets, attendance book, transfer letter, mark sheet, etc.) 2) Mark sheet required for the class (chalk, duster, etc.), 3) Development/ purchase of teaching aids, 4) Minor repairs of the building (door, window, toilet), 5) Clean drinking water system, 6) Repair of furniture, 7) Purchase/repair of sports equipment, 8) Payment/repair of electricity/telephone bills, 9) Daily and weekly newspaper expenses, 10) School cleanliness expenses are to be used under the school grant.

10% of the released school grant shall be compulsorily utilized for school cleanliness activities.

Unit cost fixed based on number of students enrolled – AWP&B 2024-25.

Upgrading of Schools:

As per the ‘State Enrollment Rights’, the following policy/ rules has been formulated for provision of access to all school going children. – Source Gazette notification No: ED 77 YOYOKA 2010 BANGALORE Dtd: 28.04.2012.

 

The objective here is to get 100 percent accessibility to schools in eligible residential areas. Significant progress has been made in making schools accessible in terms of population and residential areas.

In order to curtail dropout rates and ensuring universal access to education at all levels, support for infrastructure from Pre-Primary to grade 12 will be provided (NEP Para 1.4, 1.6, 3.2 & 8.8)

Hence based on the following criteria formulated by GOI-MOE upgradation of Schools are taken up.

Criteria for Upgradation of schools from Elementary to Secondary

Criteria for Upgradation of schools from Secondary to Sr. Secondary

· Elementary School should have 8th standard.

· There should not be any (Government/ Aided) High School within the jurisdiction of 5 kms from the school proposed to be upgraded as a high school.

·  The number of students enrolled in the school in class 8 at the time of submitting the proposal for upgradation should be 70.

· Enrollment may be limited to 50 in hilly area or international border area and other special cases.

·    Secondary School should have 10th standard.

·    There should not be any (Government/ Aided) High School within the jurisdiction of 7 kms from the school proposed to be upgraded as a Sr. Secondary school.

·     The number of students enrolled in the school in class 10 at the time of submitting the proposal for upgradation should be 60.

Transport/ Escort Allowance:

 

 

 

Free Textbook for Government Aided Schools (Class 1-8):

Free textbooks are being supplied to govt. aided primary schools by the Karnataka Textbook Association for the students of classes 1 to 8 studying in aided primary schools under the Central Government scheme.
